Current Exhibition: Insane Pride - New Work from Sue Law-Webb
| Exhibition Open Night Fri 24th 7pm Sue will be reading a selection of her poetry during the opening night. Exhibition dates and times Sat 25th Feb - 11am - 4pm Mon 27th Feb - Fri 2nd March 11am- 4pm During the exhibition - Have your portrait sketched by Sue £5 for a charchoal drawing. Painted portraits can be arranged. One part of the exhibition expresses my affection for the city and it`s people. The other has several themes; electric light, the hell of an English winter, the wierdness of being a female artist in a hitherto male domain and the difficulty of putting two figures in a painting when one of them is you.
I am interested in everything and never like to repeat myself but my main sources of inspiration are literature, music, rural and urban landscape and the people and animals that live in them. Although superficially my work is figarative, for me, brushwork, line, colour, tone and composition is as much a part of the subject matter as the things depicted. I try to make my pictures beautiful as I understand it. |
